Position Summary

The Electrician is responsible for the execution of all preventative maintenance and reports on all plant equipment and components in a safe manner. The responsibility includes but not limited to inspecting, diagnosing and repairing electrical and electronic systems.

Responsibilities:

The Electrician will be expected among other things to:

  • Perform industrial electrical maintenance
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair all electrical equipment and systems
  • Execute electrical preventative maintenance and repairs
  • Check and record condition of equipment,
  • Maintain DC motors and service generators, and

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or Technical or Vocational Training in Electrical Engineering to City and Guild Level 3
  • Three (3) years’ experience in heavy industrial workshop environment with experience in diagnosing problems with three-phase motors and control circuits, would be an asset
  • Knowledge of PLC systems would also be an asset
  • To work in dust, noise, confine areas, heat and heights
  • To work shift
  • The ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Sound Work ethic
  • An appreciation for the importance of providing excellent service.

FITTER/WELDER

Position Summary

Responsible for the execution of all preventative maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and components in a safe manner. The responsibility includes but not limited to inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, fabrication, machining, welding and lubrication.

Responsibilities:

The Fitter/Welder will be expected among other things to:

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair all mechanical equipment and components;
  • Maintain fixed plant equipment;
  • Execute mechanical preventative maintenance and repairs; and
  • Perform necessary plant and workshop repairs including fabrication, machining and welding

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technical and Vocational Training in Mechanical Engineering Technology (including welding and machining) to the level of City & Guilds 1 & 2
  • Three (3) years experience in a heavy industrial workshop environment would be an asset
  • To work in dust, noise, confine areas, heat and heights

MECHANICAL ENGINEER - Power Station

Position Summary

Plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities required for the operation and maintenance of the diesel power plant.  Ensures maximum operational availability of the plant at the lowest possible cost and in accordance with budget

The Mechanical Engineer will be required to:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the foreman and technicians;
  • Ensure the reliability of all equipment at the station and garage by carrying out a planned program of predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance;
  • Prepare cost estimates and provide input towards the budgeting process;
  • Analyze performance and downtime reports of mechanical equipment and research reasons for machine failures and formulate action plans; and
  • Develop and implements critical spares stock levels, equipment checklist and inspection frequencies for the computerized Maintenance Management System.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements           

  • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related area;
  • Five (5) or more years of job related experience;
  • Experience in Generating Power Plant maintenance activities and reciprocating engines;
  • A comprehensive understanding of the principles of engineering and regulatory requirements for generation equipment; and
  • Knowledge of prime engine movers, cooling water distribution systems, environmental controls, fuel systems and plant electrical and control systems.
