The TCL Group has just celebrated the commencement of construction activity of the Group’s first cement terminal in the region – TCL Guyana Incorporated.
Answering a growing regional demand for cement, the benefits of the TCL Guyana Incorporated will reverberate across the country and will impact significantly on Guyana’s development plans.
For the TCL Group, the terminal represents a significant investment of US$4.5M – a further testimony of the Group’s fervent efforts in pursuing its strategic objectives – continued integration within the region, production capacity expansion and full support of the overall development plans of Guyana and the Caribbean.

At the sod-turning ceremony to signal the commencement of construction activity, Dr. Rollin Bertrand, CEO, TCL Group, elaborated on the Group’s expansion plans and outlined benefits of the terminal:
“This terminal complements the Group’s current production expansion plan, already initiated at both its Jamaica and Trinidad Plants, which is estimated to cost over US$180M over a five-year period as the Group seeks to adequately serve a growing regional market, increase its efficiencies through state-of-the-art technology and reduce its operating costs towards world benchmark levels as it prepares for the imminent era of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy and more so, the Free Trade Area of the Americas.”
“Our motto; ‘One Caribbean….One Company’ epitomizes the Group’s strength as it seeks to harness the aspirations and local skills in the region through efficiently operated, indigenous enterprises owned by the peoples of the region.”
Largely manned by the nationals of Guyana, the operations of TCL Guyana Incorporated will directly and tangibly benefit the Guyanese people and economy with: the creation of jobs, transfer of technology, net savings on foreign exchange outflow, provision of a reliable cement supply to facilitate infra-structural developments, the potential for more competitive cement pricing and the potential for downstream investments.
