Role Challenges:

Electrical Technician

Maintain and repair all electrical and electronic systems to agreed availability, and ensure that work is done cost effectively, efficiently and safely. Perform calibration for plant measuring systems, and installation of new equipment or upgrade with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) personnel. Perform duties in a safe and timely manner in keeping with Company requirements and standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks: Perform current, voltage and, bearings checks; Complete temperature checks & clean motor and equipment
  • Perform calibration of equipment: Note calibration procedure; Coordinate effort with Attendant/Engineer; Complete calculation and adjust as required and repair / replace defective component/ board P.C.
  • Check instrumentation: Coordinate with CPO for ECS display readings; Perform field checks on equipment, loops for correct operation and readings.
  • Perform data collection: Use test equipment in substations and fields and update data on checklist.
  • Perform installations: Collect equipment, materials and drawings; Install hardware and equipment; Connect wiring and perform test.
  • Repair motors: Disassemble motor and remove/service components and install new bearings; Assemble and test.
  • Service cranes and other lifting equipment: Troubleshoot problem with aid of diagram. In order, to repair and replace defective component and test equipment
  • Test and repair to Motor Control Center (MCC): Test MCC to determine proper time tripping, overload and fuses. Replace OC relay where necessary. Check all connections and wiring.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair printed circuit boards.
  • Assist engineer in installation and set-up of new equipment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor

 

Qualifications:
  • 3-years working experience in a similar position.
  • City & Guilds 1 & 2 Electrical Engineering or an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Specialized knowledge in Process Instrumentation
  • Knowledge of electrical, electronics and PLC systems
  • Basic Mechanical Skills and Basic Power Station Operations
  • Ability to use & interpret electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of cement process
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Basic Knowledge of CMMS
