The electrician is responsible for the execution of all preventative maintenance and reports on all plant equipment and components in a safe manner. The responsibility includes inspecting, diagnosing and repairing of electrical and electronic systems.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform industrial electrical and electronic maintenance.
- Inspect, diagnose and repair all electrical and electronic equipment and systems.
- Execute electrical preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Check and record condition of equipment.
- Maintain all AC and DC motors and service generators
- Take daily electrical logs.
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic problems.
- Correct faulty wiring, slack connections on motors, motor control centers and bus bars.
- Check compress and fans for overheating.
- Report immediately to the Electrical Supervisor any accidents.
- Keep all areas free of rubbish and maintain a tidy environment.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned by Electrical Supervisor.
Education, Skills and Experience
- Technical or Vocational Training in Electrical Engineering to the level of City and Guilds Levels 1 & 2;
- Three (3) years’ experience in a heavy industrial workshop environment with experience in diagnosing problems with three-phase motors and control circuits would be an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints;
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical faults;
- Sound knowledge of the electrical and electronic operating systems throughout the plant;
- Sound knowledge of standard electrical codes and practices.
- The ability to use computerize equipment
