Role Challenges:
Mechanical Technician
Perform mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on all plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner to maintain them at the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standard. Perform duties in a safe and timely manner in keeping with Company requirements and standards.
Responsibilities: |
- Inspect Plant Equipment: Visually observe and listen for unusual sounds/ noise; Check for leaks and oil levels; Conduct PM checks.
- Diagnose and test equipment: Physically and visually check for any discrepancy (leaks, cracks, breaks); Use instruments to check working and malfunctioning parameters; Run equipment and observe and measure results.
- Perform welding to specifications.
- Machine spares: Look at part and get the material to make a copy; Use machine tools.
- Installation of new equipment: Assist in checking parts; Select appropriate tools and observe all safety precautions; Install as specified by manufacturer and conduct test run.
- Perform repairs: Diagnose problem and obtain technical data; Select appropriate tools and equipment; Conduct repairs safely and timely and in accordance with manufacturer’s specification.
- Plan jobs and provide guidance to assigned personnel: Obtain drawings, tools, equipment and data; Coordinate services with departments; Instruct staff on the execution of the job inclusive of giving safety instructions.
- Perform precision measurement and alignment: Obtain appropriate tools, drawings, and tolerances; Install, measure and adjust to specification tolerance; Start and test equipment.
- Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications: |
- 3-years working experience in a similar position.
- City & Guilds 1 & 2 Mechanical Engineering or an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Special training in Alignment of couplings and repairs to belts
- Ability of troubleshoot Hydraulics and Pneumatics systems
- Ability to read Blue Prints
- Ability to use diagnostic tools
- Basic Computer Skills in MS Office
